A slowly scrolling script across the screen opens the movie:
Fifty years ago a large asteroid passed uncomfortably close to the Earth, leaving behind a radioactive field. Those who were too close to the asteroid’s field gradually found themselves changing and developing abilities and powers that were rare among human beings. As time went on, these people began to use their powers—some for good…others for evil gain. Some produced offspring with unusual powers; some did not. Over time, these super-humans came together and formed a training academy where they could learn to use their powers for good away from the outside world.
In their everyday lives, these extraordinary people chose to hide their true powers and take on ordinary identities for their own safety. They were known as SUPERS.
Interview Screen:
BOB: High school? Oh yeah, those were the days. I guess you could say I was a little cocky, but I sure had fun.
montage starts
We see Bob Parr, strolling down his school hallway, greeting people left and right, flirting with girls, high-fiving guys—a popular guy. By his side is ultra-cool Lucius Best.
 |
Interview Screen:
LUCIUS: Yeah, Bob was pretty popular. We had some good times. A little trouble from time to time with our powers…but we found ways to unwind!
montage
We see Bob playing football with his team. It’s clear he’s holding back, as next we see him in private with Lucius throwing a football an unnatural distance—Lucius throws an ice-beam at the football stopping it in midair. They laugh.
Interview Screen:
HELEN: I guess you could say I liked high school. I was very involved, and I had some great friends, you know.
montage
Next we see a pretty girl, Helen Bender, at a different school, diligently taking notes in class, singing in the choir, and having a sleepover with a friend. Her friend, Apogee, is floating in midair and Helen playfully reaches around a corner with her elastic arm and pulls her down as they laugh.
Interview Screen:
HELEN: (becoming a voice-over during montage)Student Body elections were not so good. I put my heart and soul into it, but was beaten by some jerk who did nothing but flex his muscles and promise longer lunch periods.
montage
Helen is putting up campaign posters for Student Body President and making an impassioned speech in front of an auditorium of students. An overconfident, good-looking boy gives a cocky speech and then we see he has won the election.
Interview Screen:
BOB: Oh yeah, and I was the Student Body President! I beat out Cindy Sharp by promising more pep rallies and better lunches or something like that.
montage
Cut to Bob, who is winning an election at his school, while an angry, smart-looking girl seethes in the background, having just been defeated by mere popularity.
Interview Screen:
BOB and HELEN: (split screen, speaking similar lines) Good times, though. Yeah.
montage
We see Helen raising money at a bake sale for an orphanage. We see Bob working out in the gym. We see both graduating, Helen with honors and Bob with loud cheers from classmates.
(End of montage)
Scene: SSH (Secret Super Hero) Training Academy exterior
Helen and Bob are both in line to get school uniforms, which are being handed out unhappily by the Home-Ec teacher, Edna Mode, who clearly doesn’t like the plain-looking uniforms. Edna is quickly altering them, chattering away, as she fits them to each student, trying to make the best of them.
 |
EDNA: (chattering as she hands them out) Eh, school uniforms. These are hobo uniforms! ACK! I don't like the capes! Oh, dahling, you'll simply be suffocating in this fabric, (etc.)
Bob sees Helen in line and quickly cuts in behind her, knocking over several other students in his path accidentally. He flirts with Helen, but she is put off by his arrogance and quickly gets away from him. Meanwhile, Bob’s friend Lucius is checking out the girls and smooth-talking them all. He is stopped dead in his tracks, as is Bob, by Blazestone, who is sashaying by, burning things all around her. Immediately, both Lucius and Downburst start putting out the flames with their respective powers, vying eagerly for her attention. Blazestone smiles and keeps on walking.
Scene: SSH Auditorium
School Headmaster Rick Dicker is speaking:
RICK DICKER: You are all here because you have been recommended to us as young people of quality, fortitude and integrity…not to mention, unusual abilities. During your year here at the SSH Training Academy, you will find strength you never knew you had, develop skills beyond your imagination, and learn how to strategically live as an ordinary human and an extraordinary Super at the same time.
Bob and Lucius are snickering and whispering, checking out the girls around them. In front of them are Apogee and Helen, trying to listen. Helen turns around:
HELEN: Would you PLEASE be a little more considerate?!
BOB: Oh, pardon me, uh, uh, I didn’t catch your name…
HELEN: My name is none of your—
APOGEE: (interrupting) Her name is Helen.
Both turn to face front, Helen glaring and Apogee grinning.
Scene: a classroom that winter
Various students are displaying their abilities. Gazerbeam is working with Everseer. Apogee is with Lucius. Bob is concentrating hard on defeating his partner, Downburst. Both Lucius and Downburst are fighting their partners and trying to help Blazestone at the same time. Blazestone’s partner is Helen, who is clearly annoyed.
There are other classroom scenes. Helen is in home ec class. Edna is fluttering about teaching super costume sewing & mending. Helen has produced hilariously bad results. Edna shakes her head, muttering about extraordinary powers, but no artistic abilities. Bob is in human behavior class trying to handle items gently, but crushing them in the process. Lucius is making ice in the cafeteria while a gaggle of lunch ladies applauds. In gym class, Helen is stretching in an extraordinary way while Apogee levitates various objects. Blazestone is setting the football field on fire while Downburst flies in circles around it playfully putting out the fires. Bob is lifting various objects, like the bleachers, up and down.
Scene: Auditorium (Spring)
A much more serious-looking bunch of students are listening. You can see by their demeanor that they've matured a great deal over the course of the year. They sit straighter, listen more intently, look more focused, and demonstrate more self-control.
Mr. Dicker is announcing the training final exams for the students. They’ll be paired up against robotic “villains” to determine whether they’ll graduate from the academy. After this announcement, they all head out into the hallway to see the lists of partners that are posted. Many are levitating, gazing through each other, flying around, etc. in an attempt to see. Bob casually “moves” several students to get to the list just as Helen stretches around a crowd and ends up beside him. They both see their names paired up with each other, say “Oh no!” at the same time, quickly glance at one another and speed off.
Scene: Outside…the exams
Bob and Helen are standing alone in a large field, positioning themselves, ready for battle. Teachers are watching from various hidden spots.
BOB: Whatever comes our way, just let me take care of it. Don’t get in the way.
HELEN: Oh yeah, right. I’ll just stand here all helpless and watch you pass these exams while I flunk them. Think again, muscle-boy!
BOB: Hey, I’m just trying to be gentlemanly!
HELEN: You couldn’t be a gentleman if your life depended on it—AAHHH!
Just then, a large robotic hand swoops down and grabs Helen. Bob goes to attack, but Helen has meanwhile stretched herself out enough that she’s able to pull out of the robot’s grasp. She snaps out and accidentally hits Bob like a rubber-band. He whacks her in response and they start to tussle. The robot grabs them both and they’re back in business trying to defeat it. As they continue in a long and difficult battle, each one trying to one-up the other, they somehow work out a rhythm and together do a great job of passing the test, astounding even themselves.
Scene: Graduation
Diplomas are being handed out along with brand new supersuits by Edna who is standing next to the Headmaster, chattering to each graduate about the superlative features of his/her new suit. After graduation, Gazerbeam and Everseer are talking about the team they are forming, “The Phantasmics.” You can already see that Gazerbeam and Everseer are rivaling to be leader. Apogee, Dynaguy and Phylange are forming “The Thrilling Three.” Lucius is lamenting to Bob that he never did get to take Blazestone out, as they watch her walk by, arm in arm with Downburst. Helen comes by and shakes both of their hands and wishes them luck. All agree that they will be working alone.

Scene: a laboratory
Mindbender, a villain with a helmet device that has the power to control weak minds to suit his purposes is plotting with Purr Fume and Bomb Voyage.
MINDBENDER: All I need is one more power source to complete my mind control satellite. Then I’ll be able to control the entire city, and eventually—who knows—maybe the entire world! (evil laugh) And I think I know just where to get it.
Scene: Rick Dicker’s office
Dicker is now the chief of National Supers Agency. He puts out an alert to all supers to warn them to watch over a certain top secret power source.
Scene: A dark government building
Helen/Elastigirl has arrived from orders by Chief Dicker to find the villainess “Purr Fume,” who has been seen consorting with Mindbender. It is believed they are plotting to steal the plans for the power source. Elastigirl is sniffing the air in disgust when suddenly Bob/Mr. Incredible arrives.
ELASTIGIRL: What are YOU doing here?
MR I: I got called.
ELASTIGIRL: No. I got called.
MR I: Look, Elastigirl, just let me take care of it.
ELASTIGIRL: Oh yeah, right.
Just then Purr Fume swoops down with cat-like agility, spraying them with an awful odor. While they cough and sputter, she grabs the plans and swoops out.
ELASTIGIRL: Great. Now I lost her! Thanks a lot, muscle-boy!
She back-springs after the odorous criminal. He watches her with masked admiration.
Scene: A dark power plant
Mr. Incredible has arrived by orders of the chief. He’s looking for Bomb Voyage, an explosive French criminal. Suddenly Elastigirl appears and a similar conversation ensues. As they fight again, Bomb Voyage blasts out of the power plant, leaving behind a bomb which knocks out power to half the city. Mr. Incredible glares at Elastigirl and takes off to control the damage.

Scene: Later at Lucius/Frozone’s apartment
Lucius tells Bob about his new girlfriend, Honey True. She’s not a super, but she’s the first woman who can control him, and the first one he's truly loved. He suggests that Bob find a date so they can double-date. Strangely enough, the only girl who enters Bob’s mind is Helen. He shakes his head violently to get her image out.
Scene: A warehouse
Frozone is on duty near a warehouse where Mindbender has recently been spotted, and is captured by one of Mindbender’s accomplice villains who has the power to melt ice. All of the supers are alerted to come to Frozone’s aid, and Honey is quickly sent to a safehouse.
Meanwhile, Mindbender has Frozone chained up at his laboratory. Through persistent, strategic methods, he finds Frozone’s “weak spot” (i.e. Honey), and he is able to hook Frozone up to his mind-bending machine and control Frozone’s mind.
Meanwhile, several Supers are outside the laboratory, each one battling a different one of Mindbender’s goons. Gazerbeam and Everseer are a team, but clearly not getting along. Apogee, Phylange, and Dynaguy (The Thrilling Three) are working together on another villain. Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl arrive individually, glare at each other, and join the fray. As the villains are defeated one by one, Mr. Incredible, Dynaguy and Elastigirl are able to enter the laboratory, where they see Frozone and Mindbender. They battle Mindbender, but he turns Frozone against them, and they have to battle him also. They’re having a hard time, particularly with Frozone. They battle him, but try not to kill him. He's ruthless while under Mindbender's control. As they battle, Mr. Incredible has an idea.
MR. I: Elastigirl, go get Honey!(He grabs an icicle that's heading toward Elastigirl's head and tosses it back at Frozone's foot)
ELASTIGIRL: ME?! Why don’t YOU go get her? (She stretches across the room, stopping Mindbender from throwing a heavy piece of equipment at Mr. I from behind)You think I can’t handle this?
MR. I: STOP being so hard-headed! She’s our only hope to save Frozone! (He offhandedly punches a goon in the face)
ELASTIGIRL: I'M not leaving NOW! (She's now plastered against the wall to avoid flying icicles)
DYNAGUY: I think he’s right.

|
ELASTIGIRL: scrutinizing the situation Okay. But don’t think I’m going to make a habit of leaving battles in the hands of muscle-bound, brainless supers in the future.
The battle heats up, with Mr. I and Dynaguy holding their own. When Elastigirl and Honey arrive back on the scene, Honey pleads with Frozone to look at her and remember. A flicker of recognition runs across his face, but Mindbender is able to up the ampage on his helmet and Frozone readies his aim to freeze Honey. Dynaguy grabs Honey out of the way and covers her, while Honey faints from the shock of it all. Frozone has another moment of uncertainty and Elastigirl quickly stretches across the room and flicks a switch that controls the helmet. Mr. I takes the opportunity to remove the mindbending helmet and picks up a weakened Frozone and tosses him to Dynaguy, who runs out carrying Honey and Frozone. Meanwhile, Mindbender has picked up the helmet and is trying to put it on Mr. Incredible from behind as he is distracted by his friends. Elastigirl sees this and deftly leaps in a stretch across the room to land on Mindbender, who then turns on her. Mr. I leaps into action and goes for Mindbender’s throat, as Elastigirl quickly grabs the helmet. Together, using their respective powers as a team, they destroy both Mindbender and his lab and they escape just as it explodes. Outside, they find fallen villains, and several tired but intact Supers. Gazerbeam and Everseer are arguing again as they leave, and The Thrilling Three are high-fiving each other. Frozone and Honey are hugging.
We see a meaningful glance fall between Elastigirl and Mr. I. They awkwardly shake hands, and she slips him something. After she leaves, he glances at it, and sees it’s her phone number.
Scene: Bowling alley
Bob throws too hard and the ball knocks a hole in the wall above the pins. Lucius freezes his fingers to the ball. Honey bowls like an ordinary girl. Helen stretches as far as she can without people being suspicious and easily rolls a strike. Bob smiles. Helen laughs. There are several scenes of dates, more battles fought together, late night phone calls, and chocolates and flowers. Finally, Bob decides to ask Helen to marry him.
Scene: the ocean
Bob has set a very romantic picnic on the beach. He’s got a ring and a memorized speech that we’ve seen him working on. When the moment seems right, he turns to Helen and a kid, Buddy Pine, comes crashing in with a giant wave that has been stirred up by the villain Sharkface. Buddy knocks over Helen and Bob before Bob can propose. They become their super selves, fight off the villain, save the kid and miss the moment. Buddy is amazed and asks for Mr. I’s autograph.

|
Scene: A carriage ride through the park
Bob and Helen are holding hands. He fingers the ring box in his pocket and thinks over his speech. He’s about to turn to her and ask, when a villain, Skye Dancer, comes zooming down—a rich elderly couple out for a stroll as her target. Elastigirl and Mr. Incredible rush to defeat her and the moment is again lost. As they arrive with Skye at police headquarters, Buddy bursts in and asks Mr. I for a picture. He takes one, following Mr. I. out of the police station, chattering on about being his #1 fan.
Scene: A romantic restaurant
Again, an opportune moment has arrived. Just as Bob's about to pop the question, a waiter runs screaming from the kitchen, a man with a gun behind him. Mr. I and Elastigirl jump up to fight off the gunman. Buddy is also at the restaurant with his parents and looking glum, ignored and alone as they chatter over him, barely even acknowledging him except to scold him. He notices that Mr. I is there and lights up during all of the excitement. When the gunman has been apprehended, Buddy dons a napkin as a cape and asks if he can be Mr. I's sidekick.
MR. I: Sorry, Buddy. I work alone.
Scene: a city park
Mr. I is helping an old woman get her cat out of a tree. He’s clearly annoyed at the task, but the lady is so sweet, he can’t leave without helping. Elastigirl comes along, running home from a mission. She sees him, is clearly touched, and pulls him quickly behind a nearby building and kisses him.
ELASTIGIRL: Mr. Incredible, will you marry me?
MR. I.: (dumbfounded) Uh, well, uh... (a smile creeps across his face) YES I will! (He pulls the ring out of his belt)
They sneak back out individually from behind the building, and Mr I is once again accosted by Buddy. He goes to slap Buddy playfully on the back and knocks him half out of the park.
Interview
Bob and Helen are now sitting together.
BOB: Love at first sight? I, uh, well she was pretty cold…
HELEN: He was an arrogant meathead…
BOB: Oh yeah, well you were a pain in the…
Helen stops him with a kiss.
Camera pans out and we see Lucius
LUCIUS: (beaming) Yeah, it was pretty much that--Love at first sight.
EDNA: (starts with her voice and then camera pans down to catch a view of her) So, dahling, you'll want me to design you the perfect wedding gown, no? Yes, you do. You want satin or spandex?
Credits begin to roll, then the scene cuts to a young boy's room decorated with posters of Mr. Incredible.
Buddy is in his room feverishly cutting fabric, measuring and sewing, pins in his mouth. He finishes, and we see him in his Incrediboy costume looking in the mirror.
BUDDY: (strikes a pose) I'm Incrediboy! (looks dissatisfied) Hmmm...something's missing...I've got it! It just needs a CAPE! (dashes out of picture)
